{"id":1066,"date":"2020-09-02T02:43:54","date_gmt":"2020-09-02T02:43:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polarisepc.com\/?post_type=project&#038;p=1066"},"modified":"2020-09-28T18:41:01","modified_gmt":"2020-09-28T18:41:01","slug":"lpg-recovery-and-fccu-debottleneck","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/polarisepc.com\/index.php\/project\/lpg-recovery-and-fccu-debottleneck\/","title":{"rendered":"LPG Recovery and FCCU Debottleneck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_section][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image source=&#8221;featured_image&#8221; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Curtailed Throughput<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The client refinery historically ran long on Fuel Gas.\u00a0\u00a0 The facility was required to flare the excess fuel gas to maintain target refinery throughput and balance.\u00a0 With the federal 40 CFR 50 Subpart Ja taking effect, the refinery was no longer permitted to vent excess fuel gas to flare.\u00a0 As such, the refinery was required to curtail throughput to avoid venting excess fuel to flare in violation of the regulation.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong>Field Evaluation Results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Polaris conducted a field evaluation of the refinery\u2019s Fuel Gas Process Stream sources, the Fuel Gas System, and the LPG Recovery systems within the plant.\u00a0 The field work identified a multitude of fuel gas streams that were rich in LPG.\u00a0 Our engineering team developed a design to gather these streams and route them such that the LPG could be recovered while the remainder was routed back to fuel gas.\u00a0 In addition, field testing revealed opportunities to optimize fuel gas treating units such as the Saturated Gas Plant (Sat Gas).\u00a0 Optimization of the Sat Gas Plant not only removed BTU\u2019s and gas volume from the fuel has system, but also recovered it as saleable product: LPG.\u00a0 As with the Sat Gas Plant, field work revealed that the refinery\u2019s Unsaturated Gas Plant (Un-Sat) also needed to be optimized to recover additional LPG.\u00a0 Finally, the FCCU Un-Sat Plant was found to be bottlenecked.\u00a0 Our engineers identified the bottlenecks and provided the engineering for de-bottlenecking.\u00a0 This de-bottleneck included a new, upgraded FCCU Absorber and Stripper designed by Polaris engineers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Increased Profitability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The optimization of LPG recovery in the Sat Gas and Un-Sat Gas Plants, in conjunction with the de-bottlenecking of the FCCU Gas Plant Debottleneck brought the Refinery Fuel Gas System back into balance.\u00a0 This brought an end to the curtailment of throughput for the purposes of complying with the Subpart Ja recommendations and it also increased profitability by capturing as product LPG that otherwise was burned.\u00a0 The increased LPG and Propylene recovery and production alone paid for the entire project.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_column_text]<i class=\"fa fa-clipboard\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i> <strong>Scope of Work<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Process \/ Chemical<\/p>\n<p><i class=\"fa fa-calendar\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i> <strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2013-2014<\/p>\n<p><i class=\"fa fa-industry\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i> <strong>Market<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Refining, Oil &amp; Gas<\/p>\n<p><i class=\"fa fa-map-marker\"><\/i> <strong>Location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][\/vc_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_section][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image source=&#8221;featured_image&#8221; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221;][vc_column_text]Curtailed Throughput The client refinery historically ran long on Fuel Gas.\u00a0\u00a0 The facility was required to flare the excess fuel gas to maintain target refinery throughput and balance.\u00a0 With the federal 40 CFR 50 Subpart Ja taking effect, the refinery was no longer permitted to vent excess fuel gas to flare.\u00a0 As [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"menu_order":2,"template":"","class_list":["post-1066","project","type-project","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/polarisepc.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/project\/1066","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/polarisepc.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/project"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/polarisepc.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/project"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/polarisepc.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1066"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
